Blueberry Festival Tournament

    This past weekend the Plymouth Yoder's 12U travel team won the Blueberry Festival 12U baseball tournament.  This is the first time under the coaching of Bob Caban that the Plymouth team has won this tournament.

    After winning both of their pool play games the weekend before the boys were a number one seed and played their first game of tournament play on Sunday.  The boys played Logansport and won with a score of 10-0.  Then on Monday, they beat South Bend Eastside with a score of 8-0 and won the championship game against Hammond with a score of 10-0.

    Hitting results were:
         Evan Zeigler had four hits and five RBI's.

         Clay Hilliard had two hits and three RBI's.

         Cole Filson had four hits with a home run and six RBI's.

         Cam Dennie had eight hits with a home run and six RBI's.

        Ezra Winkle had three hits and five RBI's.

        Tim Tremaine had three hits and five RBI's.

    In this weekend's three games our pitchers, Cam Dennie and Cole Filson had 29 strike outs. 

    This has been a great season for the team.  We appreciate all of the support from the parents, fans and sponsors.  This years sponsors were:  Yoder's Sports Center, Plymouth Pizza Hut, Plymouth FOP, Rickscapes, Mancinos, Young's TV and Appliances, American Legion Post 27, State Farm Laurie Sutter and Montgomery Well Drilling.

Irish Classic at South Bend Eastside

   On Saturday and Sunday, August 3rd and 4th, the boys traveled to South Bend Eastside to play in the Irish Classic Tournament.  The boys went three and one for the weekend.  Lost to Mishawaka Heat 3-2 in the first game.  Due to a team in our pool not being able to play the boys then played the Heat again and won 12-0.  In bracket play on Sunday the boys played a team from Auburn and won 6-1.  That put them in the championship game and where they played a very good Chet Waggner team and won 1-0 on a home run by Cole Filson.

     Clay Hilliard had seven hits and two RBI's.

     Cam Dennie had three hits and three RBI's with a home run.

     Ezra Winkle had five hits.

     One tournament left and that is the Blueberry Tournament.

 

Town and Country State Tournament

    This past weekend the Plymouth Yoder's 12U team played six games in the Town and Country State tournament.  The boys played hard and ended up State Runner up.

     The first game Friday night score was Plymouth 6 and Alexandria 7.  Then on Saturday, Plymouth 10, Lewis Cass 2, and Plymouth 10, Rossville 1.  On Sunday, Plymouth 9, Rochester 0 and Plymouth 9, Nappanee 5.  Then on Monday in the championship game Plymouth 4 and Frankton 5 in extra innings.

    Hitting for the weekend:  Evan Ziegler had six hits and six RBI's

    Clay Hilliard had six hits and five RBI's.

     Cole Filson had six hits and six RBI's.

    Cam Dennie had twelve hits and sixteen RBI's with four home runs.

    Ezra Winkle had eight hits and five RBI's.

    Tim Tremaine had six hits and three RBI's.

    The boys will travel to South Bend Eastside for the Irish Classic this weekend.

Town and Country Semi-State Tournament

     On the July 19 to the 22 the Plymouth Yoder's 12U travel team played in the Town and Country Semi-State baseball tournament.  The boys came into the tournament as a number one seed and they did not disappoint.  The scores of the games were game 1:  Plymouth 11 South Whitley 1, game 2:  Plymouth 9 Rochester 1, game 3:  Plymouth 7 Nappanee 0,  championship game:  Plymouth 3 Kokomo 2.  In the championship game the boys had to come back to beat Kokomo in 8 innings.  Down 2 to 0 and scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to tie the game.  It was exciting!  

     The pitchers combined for two no hitters.  In the championship game our pitchers combined for 19 strike outs in 24 outs. 

     For the tournament:  Evan Zeigler had five hits and five RBI's and a grand slam home run!

     Clay Hilliard had five hits and four RBI's.

     Cole Filson had four hits and four RBI's.

     Cam Dennie had five hits and seven RBI's with a home run.

     Ezra winkle had five hits.

     Austin Arriaga had three hits and four RBI's with a home run.

     Tim Tremaine had four hits and four RBI's.

     Larry Dragani had four hits.

     Kendall Himes had four hits.

    The state tournament starts on Friday, July 26th in Pierceton.  Plymouth will face Alexandria at 6:00 pm.

Town and Country District Baseball Tournament

     This past weekend the Plymouth Yoder's 12U travel team headed to Pierceton to play in the first round of the Town and Country state baseball tournament.  The boys went 4-0 in district play and will advance to the semi-state next weekend in Rochester.   The pitchers threw two no hitters and they outscored the teams they played 31-2. 

     Evan Ziegler had five hits and four RBI's.

     Cole Filson had six hits and five RBI's with a home run 

     Cam Dennie had nine hits with seven RBI's.

     Austin Arriaga had three hits. 

     The team pitched well and hit the ball really well.  Next game is Friday, July 19th at 7:45 in Rochester. 

Boys of Summer Tournament

     The boys came into the end of season Boys of Summer tournament as the number one seed.  This meant that they did not have to play until Saturday morning, July 29th.   The boys traveled to New Paris for their first game against Wawasee.  Plymouth won to advance to the championship game with a score of 3-0.  Cole Filson was the winning pitcher while Cam Dennie threw three scoreless innings.

     Clay Hilliard had two hits and two RBI's.

     Tolman Mills had two hits.

     Cole Filson, Cam Dennie and Ezra Winkle all had a hit.

     The championship game was played against Nappanee.  Plymouth won with a score of 12-9.  Tim Tremaine was the winning pitcher.

     The boys finished the Boys of Summer season undefeated with a 15-0 record.  Their overall record so far is 28-1.  They will travel to Pierceton on July 11th to play their first game of the state tournament.

Plymouth vs New Paris Round 2

     On Wednesday June 19th the boys traveled to New Paris to win with a score of 13-3.  Cam Dennie was the winning pitcher and Cole Filson came in to pitch the final two innings. 

     Evan Zeigler had two hits.
 
     Clay Hilliard had two hits.

     Cole Filson had two hits.

     Austin Arriaga had two hits.

     Tim Tremaine, Larry Dragani, Brady Hatfield and Tolman Mills all had hits.

  The boys record stands at 24-1.  Play at Millersburg on Saturday at 7pm.  League tournament is next Saturday in New Paris.

Plymouth vs Millersburg round 3

   On Saturday, May 15th the boys traveled to Millersburg.  Plymouth won with a score of 12-2.  Austin Arriaga was the winning pitcher and Kendall Himes came in to pitch the last two innings. 

     Austin Arriaga had a hit and an RBI.

     Evan Zeigler had a hit.

     Clay Hilliard had a hit.

    Cole Filson had a hit.

     Ezra Winkle had two triples and three RBI's.

     Tim Tremaine had two hits.

     Larry Dragani had a hit.

    The boys travel to New Paris on Wednesday to play at 7:00 pm.

Plymouth vs Nappanee round 3

   On Saturday, June 8th the boys traveled to Nappanee and won with a score of 15-0.  Cam Dennie was the winning pitcher.  Cole Filson came in to close. 
  
     Evan Zeigler had two hits.

     Clay Hilliard had two hits.

     Cam Dennie had two hits with a home run and five RBI's.

     Kendall Himes had two hits.

     Kam Vanlue had two hits  and three RBI's .
    
     Every player had at least one hit for the night.  We had 16 total hits on the night. 

    We will be home on this Wednesday at 7pm.  It will be our last regular season home game. 

Plymouth VS Tippy Valley round 2

   On Wednesday evening June 5th the boys beat Tippy Valley with a score of 10-0.  Ezra Winkle was the winning pitcher.  Austin pitched a scoreless inning and Tim Tremaine came in to pitch the three final outs.

     Clay Hilliard had a hit and a RBI.

     Cole Filson had three hits, one a HOME RUN and three RBI's.

Flora Tournament Sunday Results

    On Sunday, June 2nd the boys traveled again to Flora, Indiana.  First up was a game against Flora.  Plymouth won with a score of 11-0.  Cam Dennie was the winning pitcher.

    Clay Hilliard had two hits and two RBI's.

    Cam Dennie had two home runs and four RBI's.
 
    Ezra Winkle had two hits with a home run and two RBI's.

     In the championship game we beat Kokomo with a score of 15-0.  Cole Filson was the winning pitcher.

     Ezra Winkle had two hits with four RBI's.
 
     Kam Vanlue had two hits and three RBI's.

     Brady Hatfield had a hit and three RBI's.

 

Flora Tournament Saturday Results

    On Saturday, June 1 the Plymouth 12U team traveled to Flora, Indiana to play Atlanta (a team from near Tipton).  Plymouth won with a score of 22 to 0.  Ezra Winkle was the winning pitcher throwing a no hitter through four innings. 

    Evan Zeigler had a hit and two RBI's.

    Clay Hilliard had a hit with three RBI's.

    Cole Filson had two walks with two RBI's.

    Cam Dennie had a double with an RBI.

    Ezra Winkle had two hits and two RBI's.

    Austin Arriaga, Tim Tremaine, Kendall Himes, Brady Hatfield, Kam Vanlue adn Tolman Mills all had hits. 

   In the second game of the day we played a good Kokomo team and won with a score of 4-0.  Cam Dennie and Cole Filson together threw a no hitter.

   Travel back to Flora on Sunday for a game against Flora and then hopefully the championship.

Eastside Memorial Day Runner's Up

    On Sunday, May 26th the boys first played Hammond for a chance to play in the championship game.  Cam Dennie was the winning pitcher. 

    Cole Filson had a hit.

    Cam Dennie had two home runs and two RBI's.

    Ezra Winkle had two hits, one a home run.

    Austin Arriaga had a home run and two RBI's.

    We won 7-6 to play for the championship against Crown Point. 

  Next we played a very good Crown Point team.  Cam Dennie was the losing pitcher and he also had our only two hits for the game.  We got beat but never gave up. 
  
    They played four really good teams and came out with a record of 3-1.  Coach Caban says, " I am proud of our kids and how they played this weekend!" 

    The boys travel to Wawasee on Wednesday and then travel to Flora for a tournament this weekend. 

Plymouth vs St. John's

   On Saturday, May 25 the boys traveled back to South Bend Eastside to play their second game of pool play.  They beat St. John's with a score of 5-4.  Ezra Winkle was the winning pitcher. 

     Evan Zeigler, Clay Hilliard, Cole Filson and Ezra Winkle each had a hit.

     Tim Tremaine had two hits.

      Cam Dennie had two hits with a game winning home run.

      The boys need to win two games tomorrow to win the championship.

Plymouth VS. Land Sharks

    On Friday night, May 24 the boys traveled to South Bend Eastside for the first game of their Memorial Day Tournament.  Plymouth beat a very good team called the Land Sharks 8 to 1.  Cam Dennie was the winning pitcher.   Cole Filson came in and pitched two great innings and Ezra Winkle finished it up with two gret innings of pitching himself.  Between the three pitchers they had twelve strike outs in six innings. 

     Clay Hilliard had two hits and an RBI.
     Cam Dennie had a homerun and two RBI's.
     Evan Ziegler had two RBI's.
     Brady Hatfield had a bi hit with two RBI's.

     They next play at noon on Saturday against a good St. John's team.  That game will end the pool play and then seeded for tournament play on Sunday. 

Plymouth vs Millersburg Round 2

    On Wednesday, May 22 the team traveled to Millersburg to play on a muddy evening.  Plymouth won with a score of 12 to 3.  Tim Tremaine was the winning pitcher. Clay Hilliard and Austin Arriaga came in relief.

   The boys play this weekend at the Eastside Memorial Day Tournament.  Should play some good teams this weekend.  First up the Landsharks Friday night at 6:00pm.

Plymouth vs. Nappanee - Game 2

     On Saturday, May 18th the boys again took on Nappanee winning with a score of 7-0.  Ezra Winkle was the winning pitcher and Cam Dennie came in to pitch the final three innings.

      Cam Dennie had a hit and an RBI.
      Kam Vanlue had two hits.

Plymouth VS Nappanee

   On Wednesday, May 15th the boys took on Nappanee and the mosquitoes and came out victorious with a score of 6-3.  Cole Filson was the winning pitcher and Cam Dennie came in for the last three innings.

Plymouth vs Tippy Valley

     On Saturday evening, May 11, the Plymouth Yoder's 12U baseball team beat Tippy Valley 10-0 in 5 innings.  After a late start the boys came out to play.  Ezra Winkle was the winning pitcher.  He pitched four innings with eight strike outs.   Tim Tremaine came in and pitched a scoreless inning in the fifth. 
     Evan Zeigler had three walks and scored two runs.
     Clay Hilliard had a walk and scored two runs.
     Cole Filson had a triple with two RBI's.
     Cam Dennie had an inside the park home run.
     Ezra Winkle had a hit
     Austin Arriagag had a walk and two RBI's.
     Tim Tremaine had three RBI's.
     Kendall Himes had a hit and two RBI's.

Plymouth vs New Paris

     On Wednesday, May 8th, the Plymouth boys defeated New Paris in five innings with a score of 11-1.  Cam Dennie was the winning pitcher.

     Cole Filson had a two run home run.
     Cam Dennie had three hits, with a triple.
     Ezra Winkle had two hits with one a home run. 
     Austin Arriaga had two RBI's.

     Larry Dragani had a hit and an RBI.
    The boys play Valley on Saturday evening at 7:00pm at the B-League diamond.

Plymouth VS Wawasee--May 4, 2013

   On Saturday, May 4th, the Plymouth Yoder's 12U Travel team headed to Syracuse to play Wawasee.  Plymouth won with a score of 12-2.  Cam Dennie was the winning pitcher with 10 strike outs.  Cole Filson came into pitch in the 5th and pitched three innings and had 5 strike outs. 

    Evan Zeigler had his first HOME RUN of his career. 
    Cam Dennie had a home run, also. 
    Zeigler and Dennie each had two RBI's. 
    Ezra Winkle had two hits and two RBI's.
    Clay Hilliard had two hits.
    Austin Arriaga had two RBI's.

   Next game is home against New Paris on Wednesday, May 8th.  Game time is 7:00 pm.

Plymouth vs Millersburg-May 1, 2013

     On a beautiful Wednesday evening, the Plymouth Yoder's 12U baseball team traveled to Millersburg.  The boys won with a score of 16-3.  
     Ezra Winkle had three hits
     Clay Hilliard had two hits
     Cole Filson had two hits
     Tim Tremaine had two hits
     Cam Dennie was the winning pitcher.  He and Cole Filson each threw two scoreless innings. 
Austin Arriaga threw 1 and 2/3 and Evan Ziegler came in for the last out. 
    The boys hit the ball, pitched well and played decent defense.  The boys travel to Wawasee this Saturday evening at 7. 

Hammond Optimist Spring Fling Tournament

     On April 13-14th the boys traveled to Hammond to play in their Optimist Spring Fling Tournament.  It was a cold start on Saturday and the boys played through cold temps, wind, rain, sleet and snow.  On Sunday it was a different tale with sun and temps near 70.  Through both days the boys went 5-0 winning the tournament.
     On Saturday, in pool play, they beat South Bend Eastside 11-1 in the first game.  They beat Hammond 11's with a score of 1-0 in the second game and beat Hammond 12's  with a score of 7-1 in the third game game.  This put them in the number one spot coming out of their pool.
     On Sunday, in bracket play, they beat Griffith 12-0 and beat the other Hammond 12 team 4-0 to win the tournament.
    Stats for the entire tourament:
    Evan Zeigler-Four hits great job catching.
    Clay Hilliard- Six hits and pitched well in relief.
    Cole Filson-Three hits, 7 walks and was the winning pitcher in one game.
    Cam Dennie-Five hits and was the winning pitcher in three games.
    Ezra Winkle-Four hits and was winning pitcher in one game.
    Austin Arriaga-Played well in center field and hit the ball hard.
    Tim Tremaine-Two hits and played really well in left field.
    Kendall Himes-Three hits in our semi final game and played well at first base.
    Larry Dragani-Three hits and played great at third base.
    Tolman Mills-played great in left field, had a few walks and a great sacrifice bunt for us.
    Kam Vanlue-Had five walks and was great in right field.
    Brady Hatfield-Three hits and got on base seven times.

Comments from Coach Caban: 
   This was a great start to the season.  We faced good pitching and played great defense.  First time our eleven year old's have faced this type of pitching and they did a really good job for the start of the season.   In five games, we as a team, gave up only two runs, had four errors and scored 33 runs.  Nice start fellas!
