Blueberry Festival Tournament

    This past weekend the Plymouth Yoder's 12U travel team won the Blueberry Festival 12U baseball tournament.  This is the first time under the coaching of Bob Caban that the Plymouth team has won this tournament.

    After winning both of their pool play games the weekend before the boys were a number one seed and played their first game of tournament play on Sunday.  The boys played Logansport and won with a score of 10-0.  Then on Monday, they beat South Bend Eastside with a score of 8-0 and won the championship game against Hammond with a score of 10-0.

    Hitting results were:
         Evan Zeigler had four hits and five RBI's.

         Clay Hilliard had two hits and three RBI's.

         Cole Filson had four hits with a home run and six RBI's.

         Cam Dennie had eight hits with a home run and six RBI's.

        Ezra Winkle had three hits and five RBI's.

        Tim Tremaine had three hits and five RBI's.

    In this weekend's three games our pitchers, Cam Dennie and Cole Filson had 29 strike outs. 

    This has been a great season for the team.  We appreciate all of the support from the parents, fans and sponsors.  This years sponsors were:  Yoder's Sports Center, Plymouth Pizza Hut, Plymouth FOP, Rickscapes, Mancinos, Young's TV and Appliances, American Legion Post 27, State Farm Laurie Sutter and Montgomery Well Drilling.

Irish Classic at South Bend Eastside

   On Saturday and Sunday, August 3rd and 4th, the boys traveled to South Bend Eastside to play in the Irish Classic Tournament.  The boys went three and one for the weekend.  Lost to Mishawaka Heat 3-2 in the first game.  Due to a team in our pool not being able to play the boys then played the Heat again and won 12-0.  In bracket play on Sunday the boys played a team from Auburn and won 6-1.  That put them in the championship game and where they played a very good Chet Waggner team and won 1-0 on a home run by Cole Filson.

     Cole Filson had five hits with six RBI's and two home runs. 

     Cam Dennie had three hits and three RBI's with a home run.

     Ezra Winkle had five hits.

     Tim Tremaine had four hits.

     Kendall Himes had two hits with 2 RBI's

     Kam Vanlue had two hits.

     One tournament left and that is the Blueberry Tournament.

Town and Country State Tournament

    This past weekend the Plymouth Yoder's 12U team played six games in the Town and Country State tournament.  The boys played hard and ended up State Runner up.

     The first game Friday night score was Plymouth 6 and Alexandria 7.  Then on Saturday, Plymouth 10, Lewis Cass 2, and Plymouth 10, Rossville 1.  On Sunday, Plymouth 9, Rochester 0 and Plymouth 9, Nappanee 5.  Then on Monday in the championship game Plymouth 4 and Frankton 5 in extra innings.

    Hitting for the weekend:  Evan Ziegler had six hits and six RBI's

    Clay Hilliard had six hits and five RBI's.

     Cole Filson had six hits and six RBI's.

    Cam Dennie had twelve hits and sixteen RBI's with four home runs.

    Ezra Winkle had eight hits and five RBI's.

    Tim Tremaine had six hits and three RBI's.

    The boys will travel to South Bend Eastside for the Irish Classic this weekend.

Town and Country Semi-State Tournament

     On the July 19 to the 22 the Plymouth Yoder's 12U travel team played in the Town and Country Semi-State baseball tournament.  The boys came into the tournament as a number one seed and they did not disappoint.  The scores of the games were game 1:  Plymouth 11 South Whitley 1, game 2:  Plymouth 9 Rochester 1, game 3:  Plymouth 7 Nappanee 0,  championship game:  Plymouth 3 Kokomo 2.  In the championship game the boys had to come back to beat Kokomo in 8 innings.  Down 2 to 0 and scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to tie the game.  It was exciting!  

     The pitchers combined for two no hitters.  In the championship game our pitchers combined for 19 strike outs in 24 outs. 

     For the tournament:  Evan Zeigler had five hits and five RBI's and a grand slam home run!

     Clay Hilliard had five hits and four RBI's.

     Cole Filson had four hits and four RBI's.

     Cam Dennie had five hits and seven RBI's with a home run.

     Ezra winkle had five hits.

     Austin Arriaga had three hits and four RBI's with a home run.

     Tim Tremaine had four hits and four RBI's.

     Larry Dragani had four hits.

     Kendall Himes had four hits.

    The state tournament starts on Friday, July 26th in Pierceton.  Plymouth will face Alexandria at 6:00 pm.

Town and Country District Baseball Tournament

     This past weekend the Plymouth Yoder's 12U travel team headed to Pierceton to play in the first round of the Town and Country state baseball tournament.  The boys went 4-0 in district play and will advance to the semi-state next weekend in Rochester.   The pitchers threw two no hitters and they outscored the teams they played 31-2. 

     Evan Ziegler had five hits and four RBI's.

     Cole Filson had six hits and five RBI's with a home run 

     Cam Dennie had nine hits with seven RBI's.

     Austin Arriaga had three hits. 

     The team pitched well and hit the ball really well.  Next game is Friday, July 19th at 7:45 in Rochester.

Boys of Summer Tournament

     The boys came into the end of season Boys of Summer tournament as the number one seed.  This meant that they did not have to play until Saturday morning, July 29th.   The boys traveled to New Paris for their first game against Wawasee.  Plymouth won to advance to the championship game with a score of 3-0.  Cole Filson was the winning pitcher while Cam Dennie threw three scoreless innings.

     Clay Hilliard had two hits and two RBI's.

     Tolman Mills had two hits.

     Cole Filson, Cam Dennie and Ezra Winkle all had a hit.

     The championship game was played against Nappanee.  Plymouth won with a score of 12-9.  Tim Tremaine was the winning pitcher.

     The boys finished the Boys of Summer season undefeated with a 15-0 record.  Their overall record so far is 28-1.  They will travel to Pierceton on July 11th to play their first game of the state tournament.

Plymouth vs New Paris Round 2

     On Wednesday June 19th the boys traveled to New Paris to win with a score of 13-3.  Cam Dennie was the winning pitcher and Cole Filson came in to pitch the final two innings. 

     Evan Zeigler had two hits.
 
     Clay Hilliard had two hits.

     Cole Filson had two hits.

     Austin Arriaga had two hits.

     Tim Tremaine, Larry Dragani, Brady Hatfield and Tolman Mills all had hits.

  The boys record stands at 24-1.  Play at Millersburg on Saturday at 7pm.  League tournament is next Saturday in New Paris.
